Visual Studio 2005 Debugging

Quite impressive. After spending time in the Visual Studio 2005 debugger, I realized that I had never seen a good debugger before this.

I thought that the Visual Studio 2003 debugger was cool because I could add a watch to anything by typing it into the 'Watch Window' and click enter. Once I did that, I was able to nest into as many objects as I wanted simply by clicking the +/- icons.

Well, Visual Studio 2005 actually displays a 'smart tag' like control right above the object in the code window and allows me to simply walk through the entire object without ever clicking my mouse. I simply hover over the +/- glyphs to see all members of any object as deep as I want. It keeps nesting in and in and when I'm done, I just move my mouse off of the stack of popups to get back to where I was. Whoever was the brains behind this one deserves a pat on the back; this is a great new feature and very well done!
